If you're serious about trading on DEXes, Dex Screener is where you'll spend a lot of time.

Why DEX Screener? – It’s simple: having mastered its toolbar, you can quickly receive 80% of all the necessary information on all blockchains and coins of interest.

To effectively receive and analyze the necessary information on DEX Screener, you need to understand what functionality is present in it.

First look at DEX Screener

On the main page we can see a list of Trending tokens for the last 6 hours (standard). There's also a sidebar on the left, which we'll come back to later.

Let's start with the main list. Here you can switch the time period using the corresponding panel

This is a basic time period switch that will always be available. Using it, your settings will be applied according to the selected period.

What are Trending tokens on DEX Screener?

You might think this is a list of the fastest growing coins, but this is not entirely true. As you can see, in the screenshot of the main page, the list also contains tokens whose price has completely dropped. Ranking of tokens in the Trending toolbar is more complex and includes a number of parameters.

How to get into Trending on DEX Screener?

According to DEX Screener documentation, the place in the top trending tokens is distributed based on the number of points scored according to the following indicators:

  1. Market Activity (Volume, Liquidity, Transactions, Unique makers, Holders);
  2. Community Engagement (Visitors of token page, Reactions on token page 🚀 🔥 💩 🚩);
  3. Trust & Credibility (Tokens with verified info, tokens that are open-source and pass security checks).

What are Top tokens on DEX Screener?

The Top tokens list allows you to sort tokens by:

  1. Trading volume
  2. The number of transactions involving a token

Use the time period switcher to further sort tokens.

Gainers on DEX Screener

The Gainers list speaks for itself. Displays tokens that have grown the most over the period you select (5 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours or 24 hours). It’s a great place to get a quick summary of the hottest memecoins of today and catch some FOMO.

New Pairs on DEX Screener

New tokens (trading pairs) for the selected period of time are displayed here.

Usually, you would see new trading pairs throughout different chains. In order to display new tokens only for a specific network, you need to use the left sidebar and select the network of interest. This way you will only see new ones from the selected network.

Let's select the Ethereum network and look at the new trading pairs in the last 24 hours:

The list of new pairs opens up many possibilities for finding new gems. Using Advanced Filters will help you do this.

Advanced Filters on DEX Screener

At the top we see the selected network and the “All DEXes” parameter. By clicking on it, you can select specific DEXes, but we recommend leaving them all. With experience, you will decide which ones suit you best.

Liquidity

Set the minimum, maximum, or desired liquidity range for the tokens. In our example, we set the liquidity range from 1k to 10k.

This and similar ranges can be used to find potential gems that have enough liquidity to trade, but at the same time the price is not very high, and the token still has room to grow.

However, you should not rely only on this parameter. There is no proven and strong correlation that at this level of liquidity the token will definitely go uphill. Experiment with this filter while setting different liquidity levels and make your own observations.

FDV (Fully diluted valuation)

Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) represents the total value of a crypto project when all of its tokens are on the market. It's similar to market cap, but includes uncirculated and locked tokens that may be released in future.

As with liquidity, we can set minimum, maximum or a range within which tokens will be filtered.

In our case, we set the liquidity settings and added a new filter for FDV. This way they will be applied at the same time.

Be careful when setting up several simultaneous filters, because... Their values can often contradict each other, which is why the filtered list will be empty.

Pair Age

Allows you to find tokens that have been live for a certain amount of time.

For example, if you set “Pair age - max hours: 6”, then tokens that have been traded for less than hours hours will be displayed (the minimum possible time is 1 hour). This also opens up new opportunities for finding promising coins in the early stages.

24H txns

The number of transactions associated with the token in 24 hours. Typically, the more transactions there are, the more actively the token is used, which can indicate trust in the community.

24H buys

Number of token purchases within 24 hours. The optimal values can only be determined by experimenting and observing different tokens.

24H sells

Number of token sales within 24 hours. You can use a combination of buys & sells to find tokens whose number of purchases exceeds the number of sales, and vice versa

24H change.

Acceptable percentage of token price change over the last 24 hours.

DEX Screener Sidebar

Search bar

Serves to search for trading pairs of tokens. When opened, we see tokens that purchased a paid information update on the DEX Screener. This gives them reputation points within the platform (trending score) and also creates more trust among users. This service costs $300.

The main functionality is to search for trading pairs of tokens. You can search both by name and by contract address. After entering the token name or contract address, DEX Screener shows a preview of the results found with a brief description. This is especially useful for identifying counterfeits of popular tokens based on the age and liquidity of the token.

Watchlist

Serves to add various tokens to “favorites”. This is very convenient to monitor the dynamics of multiple coins from different blockchains.

How to add a token to your watchlist?

  1. Click “Add pair” through the watchlist menu -> enter the contract address or token name.
  2. Click on the “Watchlist” button while on the token page.

How to share a Watchlist?

While on your Watchlist page, click on “Share Watchlist” and allow everyone to view it via the link.

This way, you can very conveniently share your list of tracked coins and follow the lists of your friends or team members.
